How to use Zouz Signage
From a new TV to your menu on screen in about 15 minutes.
1. Get a TV ready
You need a TV with Google TV or Amazon Fire TV, built in or as a plug-in stick, connected to Wi-Fi.
- Already have Google TV or Fire TV built in? (Many Sony, TCL, Hisense, Insignia and Toshiba TVs do.) You're set.
- No? Plug in a streaming stick. We recommend the onn 4K Pro (about $50) or the Google TV Streamer. A Fire TV Stick 4K works too. Avoid the Fire TV Stick Lite and older sticks for screens that run all day.
- Plug the stick into the wall with its own power adapter, not the TV's USB port, so it stays on.
- In the TV's settings, turn off sleep timers and "auto power off" so the screen stays on during business hours.
2. Install the app
- On the TV, open the app store: Google Play (Google TV) or the Appstore (Fire TV).
- Search for Zouz Signage and install it. It's free.
- Open it. You'll see a 6-character code, like K7P 4QX.
- If it asks to allow "Display over other apps", say yes. That lets it start by itself when the TV turns on.
No stick handy? Open zouzmedia.com/play in your TV's web browser and press OK for full screen. Good for trying it out; for all-day screens use the app.
3. Add your screen
- On your phone or computer, go to zouzmedia.com/pair (or click + Add a screen in your dashboard).
- Type the code from the TV and give the screen a name, like "Front counter".
- Your first screen asks for your card (secure checkout by Stripe). Each screen is $10 a month.
- Within a few seconds the TV says it's connected.
TV mounted on its side? Open the screen in your dashboard and pick the rotation that makes your picture right side up.
4. Upload your images and videos
- Click Content, then Upload (or drag files onto the box).
- Use JPG, PNG or WebP images (up to 20 MB) and MP4 videos (up to 200 MB).
- Best size: 1920 × 1080 for a regular TV, 1080 × 1920 for a vertical one. Other sizes show with black bars.
Click any file to see its size, where it's used and how often it played. You have 5 GB of storage.
5. Build a playlist
A playlist is what a screen plays, in order, on repeat.
- Click Playlists and open one (or click + New playlist).
- Click + Add from Content and pick your files, or Upload new to add straight from your computer.
- Drag items to reorder them (or use the arrows on a phone).
- For images, pick how many seconds each shows. Videos play in full.
- Want something only at certain times, like a happy hour special? Click Change on it and set the dates, days or hours.
6. Put it on your screen
- Click Screens, then your screen.
- Under Playlist on this screen, pick your playlist and click Play this playlist on the TV.
- Your changes are a draft until you click Save and go live. The TV updates within seconds.
One playlist can play on many screens. Change it once and every screen using it updates.
Everyday changes
- New version of a menu? In Content, click Replace on the old file. It updates everywhere it's used.
- Add a file to a playlist quickly: in Content, click Add to playlist.
- Is my screen showing the latest? Open the screen. "Showing your latest saved playlist" means you're all set.
- Add another TV: repeat steps 2 and 3. Billing adjusts automatically.
- Remove a TV: open the screen, Screen settings, Remove screen. It comes off your bill.
- Card and invoices: Screens page, Billing & invoices.
- On the Managed plan? Click Request a change at the top and tell us what to update.
If something's not right
- The screen says "Offline"
- Check the TV and stick are on and connected to Wi-Fi. The screen keeps playing what it already saved, and catches up when it's back online.
- My changes aren't showing
- Make sure you clicked Save and go live. Then give it a minute. Open the screen in your dashboard: "Getting your latest changes" means it's downloading them.
- After a power outage the TV shows its home screen
- Open Zouz Signage once with the remote. To make it start by itself, allow "Display over other apps" for Zouz Signage in the TV's app settings.
- The TV shows a code again
- The screen was removed from an account. Add it again with the new code (step 3).
- "This screen is paused"
- There's an unpaid bill. Update your card under Billing & invoices and it starts playing again.
- Black bars around my picture
- The file's shape doesn't match the TV. Use 1920 × 1080 (or 1080 × 1920 for vertical), or check the screen's rotation.
